Scotland needs love to (or a concert or two)
Its nice to see Geyers are doing a UK tour I only hope that a wee gig
north of the border can be arranged. In saying that the gig in Lincoln
looks rely cool & I might try to take a trip down of the diary allows it.
I for one am heavily involved in the re-enactment scene here in
Scotland. Its sad to say that up here we act like rank amateurs in the
running of events compared to our friends south of the border. We have
historic Scotland a government run organisation calling most of the
shots up here & there lack of effort in to things that people might enjoy.
I can fully understand if Geyers cant find a suitable venue in
Scotland to play but I hope they do.

Wishing you all very enjoyable concerts this summer

Alan

I count myself fortunate to have been among the disappointingly audience
present when you performed in Reading Town Hall. It must be said that
those who turned up late missed a musical treat. Your virtuosity on the
impossibly complicated-looking instrument which I assume to be a
Nyckelharpa seemed to me almost beyond belief. Not only that, but I've
never before heard bagpipes sound so musical. In this country, bagpipes
are widely regarded as an instrument of torture, thanks mainly to
over-exposure to the Scottish variety which produce a hideous sound akin
to an animal in severe pain and which seem to be restricted to a total
national repertoire of about three tunes. What a refreshing change then,
to hear similar instruments played with such musicality as you and
Albert offered! It should also be said that the two voices worked
together exceedingly well, not only in harmony but also contrapuntally.
In fact the only disappointing aspect of your performance was that it
was over all too soon. I have, however subsequently acquired a copy of
"und dein roter Mund", which is ausgezeichnet, so you can safely believe
that you have won a new admirer.
I'll leave with the suggestion that you guys should consider touring
Scotland in the hope of teaching the locals to produce tuneful music
>>from the pipes ;-)

Long may you continue to enjoy performing as much as you seem to.

All my best wishes for the future,

Brian Chapman.
